Dr. Mwai holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Nairobi, an MBA in Marketing from Kenyatta University, and a BED (ARTS) from Kenyatta University. My name is Dr. Lydia Mwai, and I am a Lecturer and Marketing Strategy Consultant with over 10 years of experience in the industry. Currently, I am the Head of Marketing Strategy Implementation at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) and a committed member of the Marketing Society of Kenya.
My manifesto for membership in the Marketing Society of Kenya is rooted in my belief in the transformative power of marketing. As a marketing professional and academic, I have seen firsthand the impact that marketing can have on businesses, consumers, and society as a whole. I believe that marketing is not just about selling products or services but about building relationships with customers, creating value for all stakeholders, and contributing to the greater good.
If elected as a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya, I will work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in marketing. I will leverage my extensive experience in the industry and my academic background to contribute to society's goals and objectives.
Specifically, I plan to contribute to the Marketing Society of Kenya in the following ways:
1) Thought leadership and advocacy: As a marketing academic and consultant, I am committed to advancing thought leadership and advocacy in the marketing profession. I will use my expertise to promote best practices, ethical standards, and social responsibility in marketing.

She is currently the Global Brand Communications Lead at Beiersdorf AG, a global company with presence across over 150 countries. There, she oversees the creation of communication material across several media platforms for NIVEA, a brand that has become one of the fastest growing. She continues to explore avenues to grow the industry by organizing conferences, contributing and sharing knowledge as well as constantly seeking opportunities to learn.
Some notable feats of Temitayo include starting Isten Digital- a business that is focused on helping people navigate through digital marketing through training and recruiting; co-founding Digital Marketing Meet-Up- a platform for digital marketing professional; member of the board of directors for ADMARP (Association of Digital Marketing Professionals and being a judge for Young Lions and Pitchers awards- an affiliate of Cannes Lions Festival in Nigeria.
Privileged to be a marketer through and through, she holds her first degree in Mass Communications with emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising, an MA in Strategic Marketing Communications and a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute of Ireland.
After getting a taste of the marketing communications agency life at Etu Odi communications as a client service executive and copywriter, Temitayo’s focus in the industry switched to digital marketing during her master’s in University of Greenwich, UK where she had an opportunity to intern at a digital agency which totally changed the course of her career.
After moving back to Nigeria in 2013, she returned to Etu Odi communications, where she started to create a digital department fully understanding the need for such services in Nigeria. A year later, Temitayo joined Wild Fusion, an agency that focused specifically on digital marketing as a digital strategist. During her time there, she got Google certified and went on to become a certified trainer for the Digital Marketing Institute of Ireland helping to train several digital marketers who are currently in top positions across several companies in Nigeria.
With her passion for passing on knowledge and investing in people, she has always engaged in trainings, seminars, conferences and workshops where she helps to raise the next generation of digital marketing professionals, teaching sales staff, entrepreneurs, bloggers, marketing teams and students how to leverage digital marketing. James Ombogo Onditi is currently the Manager Administration and Finance at Kenyatta University-Women’s Economic Empowerment Hub. The Hub was established by a grant from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on Initiatives for What Works for Women’s Economic Empowerment. James is also the Manager Business Development at Kenyatta University-Capacity Development and Consultancy Services since August 2018; Mr. Onditi served in the same capacity under the Kenyatta University-Consultancy Services Unit (KUCSU) from June 2016. Previous to joining KU, he served at Kenya Industrial Estates Ltd (KIE) as Assistant Manager Business Development and Financial Services (September 2012 to June 2016 ), Acting Manager Business Development Department (May 2013 to January 2014), Senior Officer Risk Management (June 2011 to September 2012). While at KIE, James was instrumental in the process of setting up the Risk Management and Credit Appraisal procedures, he also helped in re-engineering business processes at the Business Development Department. He was in charge of client generation, credit appraisal and disbursement at the parastatal. Additionally, he has undertaken and managed a number of consultancies and Business Development Services (BDS) projects. Before joining KIE, Mr. Onditi served at Equity Bank Limited as a Supervisor Agency Banking and Acquiring Business Channels (ABC) (April 2010 to June 2011). He was pivotal in establishing the first banking agents for Equity Bank in Nairobi Eastern Region based at Donholm Branch. He also served as a Relationship Officer Credit (August 2008 to April 2010). James is also the Manager Business Development at Kenyatta University-Capacity Development and Consultancy Services since August 2018; Mr. Onditi served in the same capacity under the Kenyatta University-Consultancy Services Unit (KUCSU) from June 2016. Previous to joining KU, he served at Kenya Industrial Estates Ltd (KIE) as Assistant Manager Business Development and Financial Services (September 2012 to June 2016 ), Acting Manager Business Development Department (May 2013 to January 2014), Senior Officer Risk Management (June 2011 to September 2012). Dr. Gatobu is Currently in Private business, consultancy and a Lecturer Marketing, Business Management Department, School of Business and Economics, Meru University of Science, and technology.

He has years of experience having previously worked at Total Kenya Limited in sales Department (1985-188), moved to Mobil Oil Kenya limited (1988 – 1990), and General Motors East Africa as Marketing Executive (1990-1995). In 1995, he went into private business and started own company that worked in Kenya and Uganda (1995- 2004).
In 2005 enrolled for MBA at Kenya Methodist University (Kemu) and graduated in 2009. Then enrolled for a DBA at Maastricht School Of Management (MsM) (2011- 2018). Graduated with an MPhil. Degree (2013) and a doctorate completion 2018.
