MSK Chairperson Ms. Zuhura Odhiambo joined the launch of the 2025 USIU-Africa Career Fair Week, hosted by the PACS Department and attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi, to share key insights on the future of talent and work in Kenya.
In her remarks on “Future Trends in Talent Acquisition: Upskilling and Reskilling Initiatives,” Ms. Zuhura highlighted the need for a shift from traditional qualifications to practical, future-ready competencies. She pointed to a growing trend among employers who are moving toward skills-based hiring, reskilling, and internal training programs as automation and AI reshape roles.
She emphasized that micro-credentials, short and focused learning programs, are emerging as valuable tools for young professionals looking to stand out. These courses are flexible, accessible, and tailored to the evolving demands of industries, especially in marketing, communications, and digital services.
Ms. Zuhura also shared MSK’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for a dynamic job market through mentorship, practical training sessions, industry masterclasses, and recognition platforms such as the MSK Awards. Through partnerships with universities, the Society continues to equip the next generation of marketers with not just knowledge but actionable skills and exposure.
“The future belongs to the curious, adaptable, and skilled,” she said, urging students to go beyond the degree and build digital portfolios, earn micro-credentials, and plug into professional networks like MSK.
As part of its commitment to developing marketing talent, MSK continues to work closely with academic institutions, bridging the gap between theory and industry, ensuring that students not only enter the workforce but also thrive in it.
