JUDGES

For the 2021 edition of the Marketing Society of Kenya Awards we have assembled a truly power-packed group of judges; together, they combine a diverse wealth of knowledge and experience in building some of the country’s biggest brands and businesses. 

ENTRY FEE AND SUBMISSION DEADLINE

ENTRIES FEE : 10,000 Kenya Shillings per entry

CLASS A: PRODUCT (P)

Judges will evaluate new products or services launched with clear market analysis in response to consumer and/or market needs, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

or

they will evaluate what the initial launch did not achieve and how a re-launch addressed the initial launch failures, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

CLASS B: PLACE (P) / (DISTRIBUTION)

Judges will evaluate implementation of a distribution strategy and its effectiveness to  reach consumer target group, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Consideration will be made on entries that will have stands out by having utilized the promotional mix tools in CLASS C to enhance shoppers’ experience.

Judges will recognize the new way/strategy in which the brand was made available to the target customers/clients

No entries will be made into this category. Winners will be deduced within the confines of the 5 Promotion (P) categories

CLASS C: PROMOTION (P)

Judges will evaluate utilization of paid up media, its ability to effectively reach consumer target group, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Judges will evaluate the rationale and effective use of digital & Social media marketing mix to reach a target consumer group, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Judges will evaluate consumer insights behind experiential market approach and how these insights were utilized to engage the consumer target group in execution, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Judges will evaluate effective use of sales promotional tools to reach consumer target group, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Judges will evaluate which entry stands out by having utilized the promotional mix tools in CLASS C i.e. the number and effective use of combination of more than one element within the promotional mix

No entries will be made into this category. Winners will be deduced within the confines of the 5 Promotion (P) categories

CLASS D: BRANDING

Judges will evaluate brand equity and how it was measured to necessitate brand building activity, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

Judges will evaluate challenges and/or opportunities that necessitated brand public relation focus, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

CLASS E: FUTURE MARKETING

Judges will evaluate sustainability marketing tactics and its impact in the society, strategies deployed, execution creativity and innovativeness with measurable results

CLASS F: BEST UNIVERSITY IN MARKETING (STUDENTS)

Based on submissions made by students in universities and Training Institutions within Kenya in relation to a brief provided by MSK.

CLASS G: JUDGE’S CHOICE

At the collective Judges Discretion

Judges will agree through consensus on any one best entry brands i.e. the one that will have impressed them the most based on a guided discussion session by the Chief Judge.

For consideration the brands MUST have somehow successfully disrupted the market, was entered into the  and attained a 90% plus rating

CLASS H: MARKETING MEDIUMS

CLASS K: 20201HUMAN CHAMPIONS IN MARKETING

This category will recognize marketing professional. Overall success will be for the previous period including 2020. This can be a current or previous marketing director/marketing managers/heads of marketing etc. S/he will serve as a role model to all marketing professionals in Kenya.

Uniqueness of the contribution that is uniquely brave for the common good of the entire industry

CLASS J: 2021 COVID – 19 RELATED MARKETING

  • Public health Related
  • Retail utilization category
  • Customer Response category
  • Online Idea Response category
  • Marketing Response category

CLASS L: DISRUPTIVE MARKETING

This category will recognize the marketing professional or a NON-Marketing professional who utilized any unconventional marketing that was creative enough and was able to deliver specified business success. This could have been done by design or by accident and as a side hustle/main hustle It could be a social media Vlog/Blog e.g. on food/travel/cooking/exercise/culture/daily routines/lifestyle, human billboard, etc.

This category will recognize the marketing professionals who  demonstrated ingenuity in using technology to deliver marketing

1. Eligibility

a)  Must be a member in good standing of MSK

b)  The award will be presented to an individual, group of individuals’ representative of the organization/Brand owner

2. Entry Requirements

a)   Nominations may be made by the organizations’/Brand owner’s Marketing department or senior management or Advertising/Creative/PR agency on express instructions from the organization/Brand Owner.

b)  Entries must be dated and have been executed or implemented during the calendar year October 2020 – September 2021.

Substantial revisions of previous award-winning entries may be submitted for consideration each year.

3. Award Process

The MSK adjudication committee screens all the entries received, adjudicates over all of them, nominates one or more and presents the name(s) of the ultimate recipient of the award in each category.

Award Presentation

The MSK awards will be presented during the MSK annual Awards Gala night Dinner 2021.
Winners will be feted with a trophy and a certificate to be issued by MSK in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
Creative Agencies/ Individuals/Departments behind the winning campaigns will also be recognized and awarded a trophy and certificate.
The winning entries will be featured in the MSK’s publication (Sokoni) special pullout and any other supporting Media.

4. Judging Criteria

Judges will assign points based on the:

  • Quality of the submission/supporting materials provided/clarity of activity.
  • Clarity of Insights, objectives, innovation, demonstration of strategy, execution, creativity and achieved ROI.
  • Responsiveness to the specified target audience.
  • Overall rating.

The success of a campaign presented depends not on the magnitude of the activity or item, but rather on the marketing creativity, innovation and utilization of marketing best practice.
The MSK Judging committee and the MSK council reserve the right to issue any award in any category if a worthy brand/brand owner/candidate is not identified during the entire judging process.

Winning case studies will be shared with members as a benchmark of marketing excellence. If your submission contains sensitive information clearly state and indicate which part or information MUST not be shared.
